February 2019

6/2/19. As you can see from the picture the snow has nearly all gone but the melt on frozen ground and another frost overnight has caused ice on the main greens .

6/2/19. Some snow remains on the bankings at the 9th hawkshill and also out at the far end of the course
19/2/19. Levelling raised drains on the 14th fairway on Hawkshill. This is to prevent the scalping of turf.

19/2/19. Areas around the edge of the 3rd green on Hawkshill  that had traffic wear were re turfed to improve visual appearance.

20/2/19. Area at the back of the 3rd green on Hawkshill (walk off area) was also re turfed.

21/2/19. New pins and flags were put out on the range target greens today, looking good.
18/2/19. Weather being so mild has allowed us to get a hand cut done on both courses (pedestrian mower).

18/2/19. Greens are looking good for February. We have some moss issues around bankings of greens which will be treated this week by applying lawn sand. This was caused by the very dry conditions last year which stressed the grass allowing the moss to take a hold .

20/2/19. Next challenge .This area left of the new Driving range will become a new Grass tee area. The aim is to build this area up in height  using USGA specifications so to Maintain its playability.
20/2/19. Deep spike on Hawkshill greens this week , always good for the rootzone , gets air into soil ,aids drainage ,increases deeper root development of grass which all adds up to healthier turf and better playing surfaces.
22/2/19. Hand rolling target greens on the range.

22/2/19. New pins and flags look very smart on the range.
25/2/19. Scarification of fairways started on Hawkshill . This is part of our maintenance program in order to reduce thatch levels ,improve drainage through the turf which leads to healthier grass .

22/2/19. All greens rolled and gravel bander lines getting tidied up.
